SEWER BILLING - RESIDENTIAL ONLY
NOT ALL PROPERTIES IN SOUTH SALT LAKE USE OUR UTILITIES. PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.
HOW THE MONTHLY SEWER AMOUNT IS CALCULATED
Sewer averages are calculated every July 1st, the beginning of each fiscal year. Water used during the months of November-April are averaged, creating your individual sewer average. This average is then multiplied at the sewer rate. The current sewer rate is $7.00.
80 divided by 5 months = 16
Your new sewer average would be: 16
Multiplied at the sewer rate……16 x $7.00 = $112.00.
The amount you will be billed for sewer each month from July 1st to June 30th is $112.00. This will not change again until July 1st the following year when sewer averages are recalculated.
For new owners who do not have an average to base sewer on, your sewer average will be 5 per unit until history earned.
Contact the Utility Billing office for Commercial sewer explanations or if you are a Salt Lake City water customer. THANK YOU!
NOTE: In June 2018, the South Salt Lake City Council authorized an increase of $2 to the base fee of the sewer rate. The base fee of $7 per 1,000 gallons will take effect on July 1, 2018. The reason for the increase is to fund the renovations and upgrades that are being implemented at the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility. The City must contribute approximately 6% of the cost of construction. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $58,000,000 with South Salt Lake’s share being estimated at approximately $3,500,000.
