This National Preparedness Month Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare.
The Ready Campaign established four universal building blocks of emergency preparedness: Be informed, Make a Plan, Build a Kit, and Get Involved. America’s PrepareAthon! builds on this foundation by encouraging millions of Americans to focus on a simple, specific activity that will increase preparedness.
During National Preparedness Month we ask you, your family, community, school and workplace to take action by planning a National PrepareAthon! Day on or around September 30th.
Each week throughout National Preparedness Month will focus on different emergency preparation topics:
Week 1 - How to Reconnect with Family After a Disaster
Week 2 - Know How to plan for specific needs before a Disaster
Week 3 – How to Build an Emergency Kit
Week 4 & 5 - How to Practice for an emergency
Ready.gov has all the information you need to start the conversation with your family including emergency kit checklists and disaster fact sheets.

To be considered for volunteer, part-time employment, or full-time employment with a Member, candidates must register with the MFTC and successfully complete the written exam and if applicable, physical ability test.

The 300 East Reconstruction project between 3300 South and 3900 South is moving forward. The design and construction documents are completed, and have been through a UDOT Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) Review. Having completed the PS&E Review means the project is ready to advertise. However, there has been one unanticipated delay. There are about 25 small right of way parcels that need to be acquired along the corridor to complete the project. Right of way acquisition has taken longer than anticipated. A few of the property owners live out of State, and it has been difficult to locate them to conduct right of way negotiations. The project team is working to acquire right of way as quickly as possible. The project is Federally funded, and Federal guidelines will not allow the project to advertise before all right of way has been secured. Our intent is to have all utility work completed by late fall and do concrete and asphalt work in the spring. If right of way acquisition cannot be completed in a timely manner the project may have to be delayed until next spring.
If you have questions regarding the 300 East Improvements project, please contact their Public Involvement Manager, Carlye Sommers. Ms. Sommers is happy to answer any questions you may have. 801-859-3770 / 300 East@utah.gov
